Blog 22: Senior Project Reflection

Content:
(1) Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Bock Presentation and/or your senior project? Why?
The most I'm proud of is that I overcame the challenge of having a good presentation and just overall coming up with my presentation. I also really liked my activity, I thought I connected it really well with my best answer and my audience looked like they really enjoyed the activity.

(2) Questions to consider

 a. What assessment would you give yourself on your Block Presentation (self-assessment)?
      AE-
I would give myself an AE- because I thought my slideshow was really well organized  and I explained everything really well. I also put as much sources as possible. I integrated my research in many slides I did all year as I presented. I also had many examples of my mentorship in my presentation. Overall, I think that my presentation flowed smoothly.

 b. What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project(self-assessment)?
AE
I would give myself an AE for my overall senior project because I found the best mentorship that would help me learn and find my answers to my essential question and my best answer. I also had useful research that I would apply to myself while playing soccer at Southlands, my mentorship with coach Ana Mendez. I did hard work in changing my own lifestyle, such as my diet to training every day to be the best I could be in soccer. I did physical work that not many people say they did. I was learning a new aspect of soccer that I didn't see in previous soccer teams I have been in. I also met all the deadlines for interviews, lesson presentations, and research counts.

(3) What worked for you in your senior project?
What worked for me in my senior project is my mentorship and having my mentors Coach Ana Mendez and Marissa Tipton. My mentorship helped me learn and love soccer for what it is. It gave me an inside perspective of what it takes for a soccer team to try and win CIF. My mentors  also helped me with whatever I needed just to gain confidence in playing soccer and to learn how to reduce the risk of injury while playing soccer. They were the best coaches I have ever had. If I had questions they would always provide answers! They took all their time in helping this team be the best and making it to the first round of CIF for Southlands, the  first girls soccer team.
(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?
I would say preparing a little bit more in my presentations I have had this year. I would also say finding the right mentor in the first month of school instead of 3 months. But overall I really liked my outcome and how I had the ability to compete all senior project deadlines while still being busy with senior class events that needed to get done.
(5) Finding Value

How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors? Be specific and use examples.

The senior project has been really helpful in my future endeavors because it helped my researching skills improve and knowing what is good research and bad research. It helped me be more organized with my time and prioritize the most important things first. I also had the ability to get accustom to presenting in front of my peers. I got really good grades in my first 2 presentations so that is a result in my presenting skills. I know that in my senior year of college I will have to do a thesis, which is pretty much the same thing and I now know what I am up against and what type of work needs to get done to get a good grade. Of course it helped me work well under pressure. Having to finish core work with senior project and Vice President duties.   Lastly asking as many questions as possible. I would always ask my advisory and house teachers for help and opinions on what I should do. That's one thing that is really important to complete an assignment. If you don't ask for help you will never know.
